Key Focus of the National Health Commission in 2022: Early Cancer Screening, Respiratory Diseases, Cervical Cancer, and COVID-19!
Apr 20,2022
On April 2, 2022, the Planning, Development and Informatization Department of the National Health Commission issued the "Notice from the Office of the Healthy China Action Promotion Committee on Printing and Distributing the Key Work Points of Healthy China Action 2022":

The notice emphasizes, cervical cancer, cancer screening, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, respiratory and metabolic diseases, early screening of respiratory diseases at the grassroots level, chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes, and normalized COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control work as key work directions for 2022. At the same time, the China Action Plan to Eliminate Mother-to-Child Transmission of AIDS, Syphilis, and Hepatitis B was launched.
With the continuous introduction of national policies in recent years, early cancer screening, cervical cancer screening and prevention, and respiratory diseases have become key work directions of the National Health Commission, and major enterprises have also actively deployed in related fields.
1. Early cancer screening
Data shows, there are nearly 200 companies nationwide engaged in businesses related to "early cancer screening."
2. Cervical cancer screening
Cervical cancer is also a major market contested by major IVD companies, and previously the National Health Commission issued the "Cervical Cancer Screening Work Plan," which clearly states: high-risk HPV testing methods can be used as one of the primary screening schemes. The HPV testing technology platform and its products must include at least the 14 high-risk types confirmed by the World Health Organization, including HPV16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 66, 68 subtypes. In principle, screening is conducted once every 5 years.
3. Respiratory diseases
The respiratory field has become a market that in vitro diagnostic companies began to focus on after the COVID-19 pandemic. On March 1, 2021, the Medical Administration Bureau of the National Health Commission issued the "2021 National Medical Quality and Safety Improvement Targets," proposing 33 improvement targets for prominent or common weak links and key areas in medical quality and safety.
The sixth item points out that the spectrum of respiratory infection pathogens is complex, some of which can cause epidemics, and the nucleic acid detection rate of respiratory pathogens should be improved. From 2020 to 2022, many related companies carried out extensive market promotion and academic activities, and relevant pricing and charges in provinces and cities nationwide are continuously being introduced.
The key work directions of the National Health Commission related to the in vitro diagnostics field are summarized as follows:
