Homing-associated glycoprotein plays an important role in embryonic development and the interconnection of nerve cells. It is mainly expressed in neurons, astrocytes, Schwann cells, peripheral blood NK cells, a few CD4+ and CD8+ T cells, and their tumors. It is commonly used in the diagnosis and research of neuroectodermal tumors, small cell lung cancer, and NK cell lymphoma.
Applications include:
1. Diagnosis of NK cell lymphoma (nasal type);
2. Diagnosis of neuroblastoma and neuroendocrine tumors;
3. Diagnosis of most plasmacytomas (normal plasma cells are negative);
4. Blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell tumor (+);
5. PNET, schwannoma, and MPNST are all positive.
