CD7 is a membrane-bound glycoprotein with a molecular weight of 40kD. It is the earliest T lymphocyte-specific antigen expressed and the only early marker present throughout the entire T cell differentiation process. T lymphocytes at all differentiation stages and some NK cells are CD7+. It is mainly used in the diagnosis of T lymphocyte lymphoma, including some lymphomas that seem to lack T lymphocyte markers, with specific diagnostic value especially for T-ALL/T-LBL. It is also positively expressed in some acute myeloid leukemias.
