Product Introduction:
CEA (Carcinoembryonic antigen) is a type of carcinoembryonic antigen produced in the fetal intestine. It is not expressed or expressed in small amounts in the normal mucosal epithelium of the adult colon and other tissues, but is highly expressed in gastrointestinal adenocarcinomas (including pancreatic), lung adenocarcinoma, and medullary thyroid carcinoma. It is mainly used to mark epithelial tumors, especially adenocarcinomas originating from glandular epithelium. Elevated CEA levels in cholangiocarcinoma are associated with reduced survival rates. In lung adenocarcinoma, elevated CEA in non-squamous tissue subtypes is associated with decreased 5-year survival rates.
It can be used for differential diagnosis of the following tumors:
(1) Lung adenocarcinoma vs. mesothelioma;
(2) Medullary thyroid carcinoma vs. follicular thyroid carcinoma.
