p27, also known as CDKN1B, is a cell cycle regulatory mitosis inhibitor and tumor suppressor gene. It does not cross-react with other related mitosis inhibitors and has high specificity. It acts as a negative regulator of the cell cycle. It is widely expressed in normal tissues but may show downregulation or loss of expression in tumor tissues. The downregulation or loss of its expression is associated with the progression and poor prognosis of tumors such as breast cancer, prostate cancer, gastric cancer, colon cancer, and lung cancer. It is mainly used in the study of various malignant tumors.
