PTH (Parathyroid hormone, Jiaozhuang pangxian su) is an alkaline single-chain polypeptide hormone secreted by the chief cells of the parathyroid gland. Its main function is to regulate the metabolism of calcium and phosphorus in the body, increasing blood calcium levels and decreasing blood phosphorus levels; it also acts on the intestines and renal tubules to increase calcium absorption, thereby maintaining stable blood calcium levels. It is mainly used for the diagnosis and study of parathyroid tumors.
