SOX-2, or SRY-Box Transcription Factor 2, is a nuclear protein primarily located in the cell nucleus. It is an important stem cell marker and transcription factor, commonly used in stem cell research and studies of cell differentiation. Abnormal expression of SOX-2 is associated with cell differentiation and tumor development. Detecting SOX-2 expression can be used for stem cell identification and tumor classification, playing a key role especially in understanding stem cell biology and cancer stem cells.
