TROP2 (Trophoblast cell-surface antigen 2) is also known as EGP-1 (Epithelial Glycoprotein-1), GA733-1 (Gastrointestinal tumor-associated antigen), and MIS1 (Chromosome surface marker 1), belonging to the TACSTD gene family. It is a 36kDa cell surface glycoprotein. It is expressed in the cytotrophoblast and syncytiotrophoblast cells of human tissues.
TROP2 is an oncogene associated with the occurrence, invasion, and metastasis of malignant tumors. TROP2 is overexpressed in various malignant tumors such as lung cancer, esophageal cancer, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, breast cancer, kidney cancer, uterine cancer, ovarian cancer, and glioma. Notably, the expression rates in cervical cancer, triple-negative breast cancer, and urothelial carcinoma are as high as 89%, 88%, and 83%, respectively. Additionally, TROP2 serves as a prognostic marker for most cancers.
