Low molecular weight cytokeratin (52.5-53.5kD). Normally expressed in non-squamous epithelium. Can be expressed in ovarian adenocarcinoma, gastrointestinal adenocarcinoma, thyroid cancer, liver cancer, and endometrial cancer.
Applications:
1. Diagnosis of epithelial tumors;
2. Differential diagnosis between lobular carcinoma of the breast (nuclear periphery positive) and ductal carcinoma (cytoplasmic peripheral positive).
