Product Introduction:

CD163 is a type I membrane protein that mediates the phagocytosis of complexes formed by haptoglobin and hemoglobin, and is expressed in mononuclear macrophages in almost all tissues. It is not expressed in immature monocytes, alveolar macrophages, or microglia; nor is it expressed in follicular dendritic cells (FDC) of lymphoid follicle germinal centers and mantle zones. It can be used to differentiate synovial macrophages (positive) from synovial fibroblasts; for the identification of histiocytes: to distinguish monocyte leukemia from other myeloid leukemias; and for the exclusion diagnosis of FDC sarcoma, which is CD163 negative.
