Product Introduction:

Villin is a cytoskeletal protein with a molecular weight of 95 kDa. It is a calcium-dependent actin-binding protein with multiple functions including bundling, severing, capping, and nucleation. It is positively expressed in digestive and urinary system tissues with brush border structures such as intestinal epithelial cells, gallbladder, renal proximal tubules, and testicular efferent ducts, while most other tissues lacking brush borders, such as lung, skin, ovary, and endometrium, are negative. It is highly expressed in gastrointestinal cancer, pancreatic cancer, gallbladder cancer, and cholangiocarcinoma tissues, but rarely positive in ovarian serous carcinoma, urothelial carcinoma, and prostate cancer. It can be used for differential diagnosis between tumors of intestinal epithelial origin and non-intestinal epithelial tumors; it also serves as a reference marker for the diagnosis of gastrointestinal neuroendocrine tumors; combined with CDX2, it aids in inferring the primary site of metastatic tumors.
