PSAP (Prostate specific acid phosphatase) is a glycoprotein synthesized by prostate epithelial cells with phosphatase activity, having a molecular weight of 52 kDa. It is expressed in normal prostate acinar cells, ductal epithelial cells, and luminal secretions, showing positive expression in benign prostatic hyperplasia, proliferation, and tumors of the prostate. Similar to PSA but with lower specificity. It is mainly used for the diagnosis of prostate cancer and metastatic prostate cancer. Additionally, positive expression can also be observed in tissues such as the urethra, periurethral glands, pleomorphic adenoma, neuroendocrine tumors, breast cancer, colon cancer, and gastric cancer.
