MUC6 (Mucin 6) is one of the secreted mucins, also known as gastric-type mucin. It is mainly expressed in normal gastric tissue, especially in the pyloric glands of the stomach. Under physiological conditions, MUC2 is only expressed in normal intestinal mucosa (intestinal-type mucin), while MUC5AC and MUC6 are only expressed in normal gastric mucosa (gastric-type mucin). Therefore, the combined use of these three has certain significance in the differential diagnosis of gastrointestinal tumors.
