SOX-11 (SRY-related HMG-box 11, sex-determining region Y-box protein 11 gene) is a neural transcription factor that plays an important role in cell proliferation and differentiation during embryonic development. It is located on chromosome 2p25.3 and is a member of the SOX gene family. It is widely expressed during the embryonic period but is basically not expressed in adult tissues and organs. Literature reports that SOX-11 is highly expressed in mantle cell lymphoma (MCL), including CyclinD1-negative MCL with typical morphological changes, while it is negative in B-cell lymphoproliferative diseases. It is mainly used for the diagnosis of mantle cell lymphoma. In addition, it can be used for differential diagnosis between high-grade pulmonary neuroendocrine tumors and low/intermediate-grade pulmonary neuroendocrine tumors, as well as non-neuroendocrine lung tumors; its expression is associated with the prognosis of ovarian epithelial tumors, gastric cancer, high-grade breast cancer, glioblastoma, endometrial cancer, and malignant melanoma.
