PMS2 is another DNA mismatch repair gene, also primarily expressed in the cell nucleus. It forms a mismatch repair complex together with MLH1, jointly participating in the DNA repair process. Abnormal expression of PMS2 is also associated with cancers such as hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC). Detecting the expression of PMS2 can help diagnose hereditary cancers related to DNA repair.
