Rb (Retinoblastoma gene protein) is the earliest discovered and identified tumor suppressor gene in humans, located on chromosome 13q14. It exists in many types of cells and can indirectly regulate cell growth. Mutations or deletions of the Rb gene are associated with the occurrence and development of many tumors, such as retinoblastoma, osteosarcoma, breast cancer, prostate cancer, esophageal cancer, gastric cancer, small cell lung cancer, bladder cancer, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, spindle cell lipoma, pleomorphic lipoma, and some sarcomas.
