TIA-1 (T-cell intracellular antigen-1) is a cytotoxic granule-associated protein with a molecular weight of 15 kDa, located on chromosome 2p13. It belongs to apoptosis-promoting proteins and cytolytic effector molecules, present in the cytoplasm of cytotoxic T cells and NK cells, and is a major active component of cytotoxic granules. It is expressed in tumors derived from T cells or NK cells. Positive expression is found in 60-70% of anaplastic large cell lymphomas, most large granular lymphocytic leukemias, hepatosplenic T-cell lymphomas, intestinal T-cell lymphomas, NK/T-cell lymphomas, NK-cell lymphomas, and nasal-type T/NK-cell lymphomas, while all B-cell lymphomas, Hodgkin lymphomas, and lymphocytic leukemias are negative. It is mainly used for the diagnosis of T-cell lymphomas and NK-cell lymphomas.
