A transmembrane protein with a molecular weight of 210-220KD, capable of binding complement components C3b and C4b. Expressed on all CD20+ B cells and CD14+ monocytes, and also on a small subset (5%) of T cell subpopulations. Positive in most mantle zone and marginal zone B cell lymphomas, as well as follicular dendritic cell tumors.
Applications:
1. Diagnosis of follicular dendritic cell tumors;
2. Visualization of follicular dendritic networks (disappearance of follicular dendritic networks in splenic marginal zone lymphoma).
