IgG4 is used to detect IgG4-related sclerosing disease, which is a systemic disease related to the human immune system. The main clinical feature is an elevated level of IgG4 in the serum. The histopathological characteristics include diffuse lymphoplasmacytic infiltration, fibrosis, obliterative phlebitis, and numerous IgG4-positive plasma cells in the affected tissues. This disease responds well to corticosteroid treatment and has a good prognosis. However, the diagnostic criteria for IgG4-related sclerosing diseases have not yet been standardized, and the pathogenic mechanism of IgG4 in this disease remains unclear.
