CD57 is a glycoprotein linked to myelin, present in Schwann cells. It marks germinal center T cells, NK cells, and oligodendrocytes.
Applications include:
1. Diagnosis of neuroendocrine tumors and NK cell lymphoma;
2. Differential diagnosis between poorly differentiated prostate cancer and urothelial carcinoma;
3. Differentiation between malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor and malignant fibrous histiocytoma;
4. Differentiation between mucinous nerve sheath tumor and other mucinous tumors;
5. Post-renal adenoma and some neuroendocrine tumors (+).
